Just a few minutes ago, I completed my last day of the COUCH TO 5K program I have been working on since July!!!! I just jogged/ran for close to three miles. . . it took me 32minutes to do that!!
I have to tell you that the route I took is PERFECTLY flat, so that made it easier, but HEY. . . in July, jogging for more than a couple of minutes was a huge challenge!!!
It should be a lot of fun, but I'm a bit worried. The first mile of the 3.1 mile run is a "slight incline". . . it looked pretty steep to me when we were in that area recently!! I know the hill will take the wind out of my sails and make finishing the run very hard. SO, that means that for the next 2 and one half weeks, I have to work on. . . hills!!!
Up until now, my focus has been on endurance. . . as I had zero when it came to jogging! It's still not easy for me, but I just keep pushing myself and try to not think about how much time I have left to go or how far !!!
I don't care about how long it takes me to finish the 5K. . . my goal is just to finish it jogging! However, if I have to stop and walk a bit because the demon hill does me in. . . .I won't beat myself up. I will still be happy that I set that goal and actually completed it. Honestly, I am totally elated that I finished the Couch to 5K Program!! It' such a smart way to slowly build up your running/jogging abilities!!
THE STONE RABBIT is still in love with my iPod. He has a little area in our yard where he hops around while listening to some of the tunes he loaded in it. . . "The Bunny Hop" and "Here Comes Peter Cottontail" are among his favorites. They don't do much to help me with my running, but they seem to work for him!!
