A Garden Show in Greenwood

 

The Greenwood Antique Mall (in Greenwood, MO) hosts an annual  two-day Garden Show each Spring and this year, it was held May 2 and 3rd.  During these two days,  the mall opens the lower level to a variety of antique and vintage dealers.

Not only is it a treat to see the terrific items and visit with dealer friends I have gotten to know over the years, BUT they serve an "early bird breakfast" and later you can buy boxed lunches at the sale or head upstairs to the Greenwood Tea Room and dine on Sheri's fine cuisine. 

OOOHHH, the fun and the food  this day brings!!  I (we) look forward to this event every Spring!

 

My friend Sharon and her sister had this booth.  The pink table and chairs were a perfect Spring pick.

You can see the neat windows on the left and it looks like a croquet set on the right.  They always have a wide variety of wonderful items.

This patio set was also in Sharon's booth.

Patio sets were a hot item this year----I loved those white folding chairs on the left.

 

This set was so green it GLOWED, but it was really cute.

On one of my recent posts (here), I shared my Uncle Sam statue as part of my Patriotic decorating.  Well, I purchased it here last Spring from Ginger--she always has terrific wares in her booth.

These photos are from Vicky Hale's booth in the upper level of the mall---OLD GLORY.  I shared in a post that she is the one who introduced me to my cherished flag picture collection.

I think I have a photo of me when I was but a tyke in a stroller that looked similar to this one. 

 It makes a great plant holder these days. . . . . It must be a real antique. . . .My, that makes me feel really antiqueeey, too. . . . I hope I don't get turned into a plant holder.

This is another one of Vicky's creative displays.  I think she told me that was a dress from her childhood! (shhhhhh, don't tell her I said that---she'll deny it, but she's not that much younger than me.)

Here's what you can do with your old lunch box when you retire.  I think my dad either made a birdhouse out of his, or hung it in a tree and used it as a target for B B practice.  I am not kidding.

I think I got my warped sense of humor from him---I miss it and him.

 

After a few hours of shopping the sale and stolling the mall, we had worked up an appetite.  The Garden Show Gang is about to enjoy lunch in the Tea Room at the antique mall.  (L) Marian, theTag Sale cookie baker, Julie (front), me, Patty, Ellen (front), Laura and Bonnie.

 

 

I snarffed down a veggie panini and side salad.  The menu at this Tea Room is wonderful and always delicious.

 

 

Our last stop of the day was at Millett and Co..

 

Sandee Millett owns this great shop, along with Greenwood Mercantile down the street.  We had  shopped her other store before coming here----Bonnie found a great wicker desk.  Sandee loves it when she sees us roll in---we're pretty much always good for a sale or two. ;-)

 

This shop has a variety of home decor---from shabby,  

 

to Americana.

 

 

She also has a great childrens room----I don't know WHY I didn't photograph that.  She probably had snacks set out and I became distracted.

We had a great day shopping, visiting and eating! 

Greenwood Garden Show 2008 --- was under our belts.  It was time to go home and take a little nap.

When I left that morning I promised to bring THE STONE RABBIT a fresh green salad from the tea room---if he would pot the rest of my plants that I hadn't gotten to yet.  

 Wouldn't you know I forgot the danged salad!!!

He was pretty huffy for awhile, but calmed down  when I told him it was an honest mistake and that I would fix him a great salad right then.  Later he said he understood and wasn't upset anymore-----because I was old and forgetful and couldn't help it. 

 I took him off my Christmas card list with that remark (but just for 30 seconds or so).

Then I fixed him a salad.

Dana, you always are having such a good time! I loved all the antiques at the Garden Show. If I lived near that mall I'd have trouble controlling myself as I wanted to buy so much just by looking at your photos!

Hello Dana, I just love everything about your post today. I thought of you when my daughter and I went to the Biltmore for the day. We had so much fun. I took a photo of a rabbit that was so cute. I'll post it one day.

It is so nice to be home from camping. I have a lot of blog catching up to do.
