The Stone Rabbit

A LITTLE COSTUME TUTORIAL and a PINK TRICK OR TREAT!

THE STONE RABBIT loves to dress up for Halloween . . . this year is no exception!!

When he made his decision on what he wanted to be,  he thought it would be great fun to show you how we created his costume!

He's a real thrifty guy. . . . he LOVES to use items we have around the house to for his costume each year. . . .

so on the day of THE COSTUME CONSTRUCTION, he quickly assembled the necessary items!

The first step was to determine the proper length of the garment.  That was very simple!!  I just tossed the fabric over my rabbit, then . . .

I CAREFULLY started  snipping away. . . all around the bottom of the future outfit!

I am sooooo lucky to have a rabbit that holds still, as this could be a very stressful time if I had to deal with a wiggling subject!

In no time at all, we had the PERFECT length!  This is very important for costume safety. . .we don't want the Trick or Treater to trip over fabric that is too long!

I then needed to add a little spot at the top for THE STONE RABBIT'S ears to protrude!

I tried to convince him to leave his ears covered, but he insisted I make a spot for them to come out! 

NO PROBLEM!  I just snipped, snipped, snipped........ever so carefully.......until . . . .

his magnificent ears popped out!

The next step was the scariest part for me. . . it was time to cut out. . . . .

the holes for his eyes.

OMG!  That rabbit MOVED just as I was making my final cut on one of his eyes.

Can you tell which one it was?

I told him I'd make it look OK .    First. . .

I cut a strip of the fabric to use as a little tie around his neck. . .it would keep his costume from slipping, then I . . .

even upped the eyes by drawing black circles around them with the marker!

See, those eyes look pretty even now, don't they?

THE STONE RABBIT wanted me to put a sign on him that said "TRICK OR TREAT".  I asked him why he needed that.  He told me if he had the sign on  he wouldn't have to say the words!  That way no one would know who he was when he was out Trick or Treating  . . . otherwise they would recognize his voice!

He's pretty clever!

I used PINK for the sign for our PINK SATURDAY friends!

Sometimes I'm pretty clever, too! :)

Of course TWIGGY wanted in  the photo!

I told them both to "smile" for the picture.  As you can see, Twiggy wasn't in a smiling mood. 

I'm  sure glad THE STONE RABBIT was!

A MOUNTAIN OF PINKS

Happy Pink Saturday to you!!!

Bonnie and I had a fun four day trip to the many Arts and Crafts Fairs in the War Eagle Area of Arkansas!  My husband did a great job taking care of the kitties in my absence. . . I'm certain the PINK Post It Notes I left for him, as gentle little reminders, were a big help!!!  I have one more super busy week getting ready for a sale, then I will have time to put together a post about our trip!

First today, I wanted to share a couple of photos of Jean of THE DAISY CHAIN.  She was the winner of my 200th Post Giveaway!  I challenged her to post a photo of her wearing the PINK prize. . . . and she did!!!

Jean is a golfer. . . I think she will be the envy of the other duffers when she shows up in that PINK sequined hat, don't you?

 

As I was doing our weekly grocery shopping in my favorite HY-VEE Store, I rounded a corner and this  vision of lovely merchandising PINKNESS was waiting for me!!!

Wow!  I was so happy I had my camera in my purse. . . it's not every day you run into a mountain of PINKS!!!!

It seems that the message of Breast Cancer Awareness, especially during the month of October,  is certainly being heard by more and more companies. . . so many have joined in the battle to fight the disease by PINKING up some of their products and donating money to organizations such as "Susan G. Komen for the Cure" to help in  research, education and treatment efforts.

 

Here are closeups of a few of the items offered for sale in their glorious PINKNESS that day!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I could have brought many of those products home with me. . . I loved that Brita PINK pitcher!  However,  what I purchased was this box of Cheerios. 

In fact, that very morning as I was making my shopping list, THE STONE RABBIT  reminded me  that I needed to pick up a box of that yummy cereal.  After all, the Grand Girl is coming over to spend the night with us this weekend and he knew she would be so sad if we didn't have any Cheerios in the pantry for her!  Oh my goodness, we would NEVER intentionally do something to make her sad!!!  Never, never, never!!!  :)

This is how she likes to sit while she enjoys her Cheerios at our house. . . her balancing skills amaze me!

I pray that when she grows up, breast cancer will be a disease of the past and I . . . .

hope she will still enjoy a delicious bowl of Cheerios with her Nana now and then!

PINK NOTES

By the time you read this, Bonnie and I will be strolling through the many, many booths featured at the Fall Sale found in North Central Arkansas called WAR EAGLE!

It has been about three years since we made this trip. . . and I can tell you, we are both super excited about it!!!

When I have time, I will give you more info about the sale (actually, there are MANY sales!), but this time I am in a major hurry and wanted to share with you a bit of "the list" that I have to leave for my husband while I am gone.  You see, I am the one who takes care of the daily "to dos".  He needs a bit of a reminding while I'm away and what a better way to "remind" him than to do it on PINK Post It Notes!!

I have two areas of concern when I'm away.  # 1 My Hubby and #2 My Kitties!

Soooooo, this is where those Post It Notes come in handy!

 

 

 

 

 

There you have it!!  Do you think my Fur Babes will be OK? :)

WE HAVE A GIVEAWAY WINNER!

Just LOOK at this photo. 

What do YOU see?

A sweet park bench or two? Yes.

Do you see cars? Yep.  I see cars, too. 

Do you see wet sidewalks?  YES. . .I see them.

Those sidewalks were wet.  Very, very wet.

WHY?

Because it was RAINING!!!

Rain, rain, rain.

On Thursday evening, I was setting up for my fourth sale in five weeks in THIS!!!   

RAIN!!!!

Oh, and it wasn't only wet, it was COLD!

My buddy Patty, had come along to help me unload my stuff.

Setting up a sale requires LOTS of stuff on which to display the stuff you want to sell!

It's not fun  unloading this STUFF in a downpour. . .  especially when it's COLD!

It's a good thing THE STONE RABBIT keeps me in line.   I'd been so busy all week getting ready for this sale that my elder brain nearly FORGOT that I was going to have THE drawing for my 200th post giveaway. 

So along with all of the STUFF I had crammed into my vehicle for the sale, he made certain I had THE PINK sparkly hat and ALL of the comments that were entered into the drawing of the coveted PRIZES honoring my blogging Milestone!!

NOTE:  Just in case you have forgotten, the coveted prizes for my 200th Post Giveaway were that PINK sparkly hat and a wonderful PINK ice cream cone ornament!!!  OMG. . . I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about those terrific prizes!!!

 

I enlisted the assistance of my "helper" friend, Patty (on the left), and my sale neighbor, Bonnie (on the right).

 

Even though they were tired and cold and damp, they grinned for the camera.

Patty held the hat filled with comment entries and Bonnie pulled one out. . . .

 

and if we look REAL close, we can see that the lucky person who will receive the sparkly PINK hat and the PINK ice cream cone ornament IS . . . .

A 200th POST CELEBRATION!!!

I knew my 200th Post was getting close.  So when I realized that this post, appearing on Pink Saturday was actually the ONE . . . . my 200th post. . . . well, THE STONE RABBIT and I decided we needed to celebrate !!!!

 

We were very excited when we found that The Resident Ice Cream Thief had actually left more than a bite in the carton!!! 

 

As THE STONE RABBIT and I enjoyed our celebratory cones, we discussed all of the fun and difficulties we've had working our way through 200 posts!!! 

We reminisced about our struggles in the beginning. . .how I had so much trouble getting the "posts" to post or the pictures to stay on the pages.  He also reminded me of the HOURS he spent with me as I worked so hard to take just the right pictures of him and his buddies AND of my buddies and of our pets.  He also noted how patient those very friends and pets AND strangers were with my incessant drive to take pictures of EVERYTHING. . . from birthday celebrations, to parades, to yard mowing, and on and on.  He also noted that, while my posting and visiting has had to slow down recently because of my busy schedule, that my desire to continue to be a part of the blogging world is still there.  AND when time allows, I will be back to sharing more often and VISITING my blogging friends on a regular basis again.   I really think THE STONE RABBIT misses the visits to our blogging friends more than he wants to admit!  Blogging and reading blogs IS addictive!

 

Then he asked me if I had a little Giveaway in mind to mark this blogging milestone and to say "thank you" to the folks who read my words and take the time to leave comments.

I told him that when Bonnie and I had visited a great flea market in September that I had picked up a swell item to use for a Pink Saturday post.   I thought THIS would be the perfect time to use it!!

Yes, sir, this gorgeous hat is  totally covered with glittery PINKNESS!!!  It's nearly blinding with its PINK glittery beauty!

THE STONE RABBIT thinks the winner of this terrific prize would always feel the special PINK attitude when wearing it!!!  I agree with him.

Then he asked me if I had anything else in mind to give to the winner of my 200th Post Giveaway!

That's when I called on Whitney the Rabbit and Twiggy the Kitty to retrieve the other "prize" I had purchased.

Yes, I have a little PINK ice cream cone ornament to pass on to the winner, too!!  I selected this because THE STONE RABBIT and I have a great love for ice cream, ornaments and PINKS!!!

 

Whoa, Twiggy!!!  THAT ice cream cone is not real.  Ya better not take a bite out it or I'll have to pack you up to visit our vet!!!
