My husband and I were so excited to be able to attend the Halloween festivities held at the home and neighborhood of our son, daughter-in-law and little Grand Girl and Grand Boy!
Several of their friends were also present, along with their very own excited little kiddos. However, before the Trick or Treaters headed out the door, there was some wonderful food to enjoy!
Besides two types of soup and some yummy hot dogs, there were these great treats! Apple slices were smeared with peanut butter, then lined with miniature marshmallows, to give us a delicious and fun snack! The little folks at the party gobbled them up! (So did many of us big folk!)
YES!!! Beneath the plastic wrap were scrumptious homemade cinnamon rolls. . . I was in heaven!
OOOOOOOH MY, and this little dip was a major hit!
After our tummies were full and the children had donned their costumes....it was time to head outside!
Last Saturday evening, the 31st of October, was the perfect night for Trick or Treating!! The weather was a bit nippy and the night sky was clear and dark. . .making the gorgeous moon a splendid light to show the children the way from house to house!
Our Grand Girl wore the "DOROTHY" outfit from her Wizard of Oz Birthday Party (last June)! She also carried the PINK Jack-O-Lantern I posted about earlier! How very lucky for ME that she used that container to hold her bounty of candy. . . that made it easier for me to share our Halloween evening with you on PINK SATURDAY!!
Last year, the Grand Girl was pretty hesitant about Trick or Treating. . . but not THIS year!!! No sir! Not even the scary pumpkins and . . . . .
spooky flying skeletons and . . . .
tables filled with (gasp!!!!!) BODY PARTS kept her from moving forward in her search for Halloween Treats !!!!!
(Note: they have some fun neighbors who clear out their garage and set up the most amazing Halloween spooktacular!)
That's right!! NOTHING was going to stop the Grand Girl in her "Dorothy" outfit from filling her PINK candy container. . . not even a BIG pooch disguised as a witch or. . .
a scary house with BIG eyes peering out the front window and GIANT spiders hanging everywhere and two giant masked men standing guard at the front door!
OK, OK, I have to tell the truth. Little "Dorothy" skipped this house. . . . but it was pretty cool! These folks go all out in this neighborhood!
"Dorothy" preferred the calmer homes with the "non-costumed" candy dispensers!
While the Grand Girl traipsed from house to house, accumulating candy loot, her brother, aka "THE CHICKEN" snoozed in his stroller! These sweet Corgi's were out and about that night, too, . . . they loved looking at the cute little "CHICKEN" !
Yep, THE CHICKEN enjoyed the cool night air and pretty much slept during the entire outing!!! By the way, his big sister wore that very same Chicken Outfit on her first Halloween!!! :)
So, as THE CHICKEN slept, DOROTHY continued her candy quest. . . .
going from house. . .
to house, until . . . .
she ran into this!!!! Sadly, the candy supply had come to an end!! It was time to call it quits and go sort the loot!!
When we arrived home that evening, I told THE STONE RABBIT how great the PINK Jack-O-Lantern looked filled to the brim with DOROTHY"S treats!! He said he wished he could have seen the Grand Girl and Boy Trick or Treating, but he enjoyed staying home and passing out treats!!! He said their were tons of little Trick or Treaters in our neighborhood, too!
I have to add this awesome picture!! This beautiful dog is GLORY. . . she's all dressed up in her PINK wings and scarf and ready to attend the party held in the classroom in which she is the "therapy dog" for many lucky children. Glory owns Michelle, who so kindly sent this photo to me to share with you for PINK SATURDAY! To read my older post about Glory, just click (HERE)!!!
Isn't she wonderful? :)
I hope you all have a fantastic PINK Saturday!

The Grand Girl all dolled up like Dorothy is so cute. It looks like she had fun Trick or Treating! That Dog with the pink wings is adorable too, but, those teeth apple marshmellow snacks and that dip with the carrots that looked like fingers, they were awesome! LOL
Happy Pink Saturday to you and the Stone Rabbit.
hugs, Ann

You have the most adorable Dorothy with her red hair. Those teeth/apple treats are the funniest food and I'm not sure about those creepy carrot fingers! Of course the little one in the stroller was asleep - he's a ROOSTER silly! They are morning types! I haven't been by in sooo long. How did 2 of your posts get by me? It's 2a.m. and I'm waiting on a cake to cool so I can go to bed. Ack...why do I wait until the last minute on everything??? Happy Pink Saturday, my MO friend. xoxo Nancy

I don't think I'd be able to get myself to actually eat those teeth and hand LOL But seriously! The cinnamon rolls on the other hand . . . :-)
"Dorothy" must have collected lots of candies :-) And you're right, for a pretty little angel to be coming into that home . . . they sure turned there front yard into a grave site. Creepy!

Li

Dorothy and the Chicken are so cute, Dana!
Sounds like a fun Halloween!

Dana, I don't blame the Grandgirl one bit for her perference of the calm, sweet houses. I'm with her on that! LOL! I just don't do scary, either. She and I would have been ruuuuuuuunnning, not calmly retreating from the scary ones had I been with y'all.
And that grandson in his chicken suit... so adorable! I loved seeing their pictures, and I'm glad the Stone Rabbit was left in charge at your house so that you didn't meet with any unexpected tricks. ;-)
Glory is a BEAUTIFUL dog, too. What a great thing to be... a therapy dog. He gets big brownie points (or I guess I should say treat points) with me!
XO,
Sheila :-)

Your little gal is the cutest Dorothy I've ever seen. What an adorable child...
Those treats? SOOOO Clever....especially the apples...they gave me the giggles..
Happy Pink Saturday!
Warm blessings,
Spencer

Oh, have mercy Dana, I thought those apples were false teeth for a terrifying moment. I can't stop laughing about how everyone loved them and even the big folks. I swear Dana, they do look like false teeth!!! And you are just about the best false teeth DIVA I know. Still cracking up!
Your whole post is just adorable. Little "
Dorothy" is a darling and her pink pumpkin fit right in. Now the sleeping chicken is getting so big. How wonderful to be with your family on Halloween. I was with 4 of my grands and had a ball. Did you visit that post. I am 70 now so I can't remember anymore...so they say about old folks. What they (who say) don't know, is I think 'others' are old. Not me!!!
I just heard my daughter say it is going to be in the low sixties at the football game in Gainesville. In that stadium, high up the wind is a factor. Brr, I didn't bring very warm clothes. I better go see what I can borrow. My daughter is so thin...sigh. Maye her hubby has something I can wear. When it comes to being cold, I don't care about fashion!!!
Happy Pink Saturday my dear friend who has access to false teeth. Are you sure those are apples and marshmallows?
Love, Jeanne

Hello Dana, I posted Cheri' today. come and see.
We are loving this little baby sooo much. we have always had a dog and it has been almost a year since we had Babette put down. Cheri' is sure filling the void in our hearts.
I just looked at your blog again and I love your grands and the dogs are adorable too. Your posts are so good Dana. I love reading them.
I am still laughing about the apples and marshmallows. did they know how funny it is considering your infatuation with false teeth? Kidding, I know you do not want false teeth, Ha!
WHO Would???
Love, Jeanne

Okay, this scares me, but I thought that was a tray full of "your" dentures. OMG. I about died laughing. And, now I see Jeanne thought the same thing. That scares me, too. OMG! I am going to be laughing about this all day.
Your little chicken and little Dorothy just had to be the cutest ones of all. Who gave out the candy at your house?
