As I type this post, it's Christmas Eve. . . we are just about ready to join forces with part of our family to celebrate this wonderful evening. Sadly, we are under a BLIZZARD warning!!! Our weather has been drippy all day.....first, with rain, then the temperatures started dropping and the rain kept coming.....so we had the beginning of icing! NOW, we're experiencing heavy sleet....soon to be replaced with lots of snow....for awhile! Ho, Ho, HO!!!
It's OK...we have the traditional PINK strawberry daiquiris already blended....just waiting in pitchers on the front porch cuz they won't melt out there!
I find I am very guilty of losing focus about this Eve of Christmas. . . I get wrapped up in the "busy-ness" of the occasion and often ignore the "reason for the season".
Fortunately, many people share their belief in the birth of Jesus by setting up nativities in their yards. This display is right up the street from us.
My mother-in-law always had lots of decorations depicting the Holy Family. . . such as this old Nativity, which I know is at least 41 years old. . . .
while I have lots of light up Santas and Christmas trees, she made certain the point of Christmas was not forgotten.
She even had this sweet little plastic Nativity that hung in her tree.....and it now hangs in ours.
For Christmas a couple of years ago, my daughter-in-law requested that I buy my little grand girl a Fisher Price Nativity with Little People characters of Joseph, Mary, the Baby Jesus, Wise Men, Shepherds and various animals. . . .it sets on their coffee table during the Christmas season and little hands enjoy making the characters come to life. . . .
sometimes, the Wise Men and a Shepherd take Baby Jesus for a ride----she knows that a car trip like that can calm a fussy babe!
THE STONE RABBIT and I want to wish you all a very safe, merry and blessed Christmas and . . .
a terrific PINK SATURDAY.
Please visit Beverly's blog, HOW SWEET THE SOUND, starting on Saturday. She'll have a long list of bloggers who all have PINKS to share!
DANA
Our Fisher Price Baby Jesus has been riding in a boat today and Mary was flying the jet plane!
Have a very Merry Christmas! I am in the SW corner of MO and we just started getting sleet.

Hey Dana!
I hope you get a White Christmas! But I also hope that you don't get a power outage like WV has had this week. There are people who have been without electric for a week now! Ours was out for 2 days.
Great post! Love the nativity scenes!

Hello Dana, I have been trying to visit you today and our daughters connection was out. I hope this will get through. Thank you so much for the sweetest comment on my post.
We are already for the big day. Our grands are in bed and the gifts are under the tree. Whew, we were so busy today. We started at 8:00am at WalMart grocery shopping and finished at Publix. Then home to bake and cook. I made two pies, two huge batches of fudge, my special salad called pink stuff or glop, cranberry jello mold and helped my grands ice the cutout Christmas cookies. Diana baked the cutouts, pumpkin bread and buckeyes. Plus a lovely meal for Christmas Eve. I sure could use a strawberry daiquiri right now. I am whipped but it is a good tired as we enjoyed our day together so much.
I do think we get wrapped up in the Christmas prep and need a reminder of the reason for the season too. We went to Church tonight after dinner and it was good to see old friends. we were members there for several years until we moved to NC.
I enjoyed your story about the manger scenes so much. the photos too.
Wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas tomorrow. I hope you are not snowed in. I hear OK. is under a terrible winter storm.
Love you my dear friend and
I too feel like we have been friends for years.
Christmas love, Jeanne

Love the Fisher Price Nativity. I'd love to find one for my grandbabies - I'll put it on my list of "watch for's"! Merry Christmas, Dana. Blessings to you and yours...Kathy

Merry Christmas to you and your family, dear Dana. I hope you all are safe and warm. My the holiday season and every day bring the richest of God's blessings.
It is quiet here in our home this morning. I made me a cup of coffee, and came downstairs to enjoy my quiet time. In a couple of hours I'll make my crockpot lasagna. This will be the first time I prepare it in the crockpot, and I hope it is delicious.
We will begin our Christmas day festivities with our son and grandson this afternoon. I am looking forward to all of the grandmom hugs I will receive.
I treasure my nativity, too. I am glad so many treasure their nativity, and every one I have ever seen is beautiful. Sweet little Baby Jesus truly was the greatest gift we ever received from God. I fill His love.

Merry Christmas!
There's not much that brings more joy than to watch children play with a nativity. I remember so many times of Baby Jesus taking rides on donkeys and camels. It always warmed my heart.

Those wise men are great babysitters and they have much better tranportation than camels or donkey.
Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Dana...I'm so glad I have the same FP Nativity for my granddaughters...they think they are too big for it but some day maybe they will pass it on. Stay warm and safe.

Hi Dana,
Hope you and your family had a very Merry Christmas. We were under that blizzard warning too on Christmas Eve! In my area we ended up with 6 inches of snow....more than we have ever had in the 16 years we have been here. OKC area had 14 1/2 inches. Our first white Christmas and we LOVED it!♥

Oh Dana you and Stone Rabbit need some snow on that ground...come on now.
Hope you had a very merry Xmas and have a blessed Happy New Year.
Happy PS. Dana

Hi Sweet Friend, I hope your Christmas was wonderful! ♥

Hi Dana, It sounds like you had a white Christmas and even though it makes traveling a problem it sure is pretty. My sister said it rained all night Christmas Eve in the mountains and our snow is gone. In Florida it rained and then the sun came out. It was in the 60's. Wonderful. We had a very happy day. Too much food and goodies. I wouldn't mind being bulimic for a day. HA! Kidding I think!!!
Tomorrow we will see the movie Avatar. A three hour film, ugh, but our grands want to see it with us. LOL.
Diana finally has a good connection to the net. I have not been able to do hardly anything on the computer. I was too busy for the most part anyway.
Enjoy your Christmas aftermath, which hopefully includes some rest.
Love, Jeanne

Merry Christmas to you and yours! I hope the blizzard wasn't too bad!

Lovely nativities. Thanks for sharing. I too, often get too caught up in the "giving" part and not enough in the "birth of Jesus" part of Christmas. I enjoyed visiting your blog today. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and have a wonderful Pink Saturday.
Blessings,
Tricia

Dana is the bear you described in your comment the big one outside the Denver Center for the Performing Arts? I saw that one but I'm not sure if that is the same one on your niece's card.

Hi Dana, With all the activities surrounding Christmas, I think we fail to remember the true meaning of the Season. Thanks for popping over and saying hello. It might look like your back yard in Independence, we're not far from you.. in Richmond across the river from Lexington. It snowed all night again last night here, not alot of accumulation..however more snow..At least the sun is shining today. I hope you and your family had a wonderful Holiday together. Pop in any 'ole time darling. Love hearing from those that live close by...hugs ~lynne~

Hi, I found my way here from Keetha's blog.
I read your comment about the Barbie house and my first thought was that the first family who put it out had been looking for it all these years and finally snatched it back from the Barbie house thieves.
Lol.
Isn't it amazing what people toss out.

I love the idea of taking the Baby Jesus on a car ride to calm his fussing!! And what better on a snowy, blizzardy night than a John Deere!
This made me smile.
Our goose was go-o-o-o-o-d! I'm trying to write about it.

I like the idea that your granddaughter is encouraged to play with the nativity set. Baby Jesus must smile a great deal.
