One of my friends and I have often talked about spending New Year's Eve with our husbands at a really swanky hotel party. You know, one of those spots where they have a swell New Year's Eve package. . . a great meal, cocktails, dancing to a live band and a toast at midnight. Oh, yes, and you DRESS UP in fancy clothes, too!
So far, we've not pulled that plan off, however, we still know how to have a great time on New Year's Eve! For instance, this year we are gathering at our home, along with another friend and her husband. We are going to have dinner followed by games!!
The goal is to make it very casual. . . without a lot of effort. That's good, cuz I have a very low supply of "effort" left at this time of the year.
I'm not totally sure what food will actually end up on the buffet line tonight, but I do know I asked one of them to fix a batch of her amazing potato soup!!! She also has some outstanding Osceola Missouri Cheese that she is donating to the cause. The other friend says she has a ham bone that needs to be combined with beans. . . .OMG . . . ham and beans . . . what a treat. She's also bringing artichoke dip....the kind that is baked! I love that stuff! I have left over ham and turkey sandwich meat from our daughter's RN party a couple of weeks ago. . . it's OK. . . it's been frozen!! I thought we'd make some sandwiches with that! I'm also fixing a raw veggie plate. . . and a couple of quick and easy desserts. That's it!! So simple and so easy!
The best part will be what we do after we eat. . . .I bought a Mexican Train Domino set today. I have no idea how to play that, but I'm sure we'll figure it out. My husband wants to play cards. . . that's good, too!
So, it looks like our little celebration is pretty much planned. While I picked up a few items at the store, including a bottle of Asti for our own special toast, THE STONE RABBIT selected some party hats for us to wear!!
I love his taste!!! He thought the guys would enjoy the simple style like the one he's sporting. . . and he KNEW I would love the PINK pointy one to his right!! He also got a few more pointy ones just in case Marian and Bonnie would like one, too! :) I'm seeing a swell group photo op!! :)
THE STONE RABBIT and I want to wish you a safe and happy New Year's Eve celebration and the best New Year ever!
Remember, it's really fun to wear a pointy party hat!!!

Hi Dana, it sounds like a great time to me. Cards, good food, great company and maybe Dominos. The hats make the whole evening festive. I know you will enjoy bringing in the New Year with a nice glass of Asti. HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of you.
We went to Harrah's, the Casino that the Indians run and a had dinner at the buffet and then played the slots. We are back home to party with my sisters and a couple that is spending New Years with my sister Caralie. My sister Diane won 253.00 on the slots. She spent 25.00 so that's a pretty good profit. I lost $20. and quit. I'm not much of a gambler. The Casino is beautiful and it is only an hour from here. Now we party on...
The best to you in 2011 my dear friend.
Love, Jeanne
Now we have to feed Cheri' and make a snack to take to the party. ( the party is at my sister's home right behind us.) Beverly linked me today because we were not sure when we would get home.

Happy New Year Dana Sweetie...
And you too Stone Rabbit. It has been such a wonderful year sharing our Pink Saturdays together. I still love the one where Stone Rabbit got hit with a snowball most of all. That was so stinkin cute and it has replayed in my mind many times. Sorry Stone Rabbit but you were SO cute.
Dana my friend, you are a treasure. I so enjoy coming over to see what you and Stone Rabbit have created each week. I love blogging with you sweet friend. You have given me much laughter, and so many smiles. I thank you for that.
Many hugs and much love for the New Year, Sherry

My hubby and I just finished a nice dinner with ham and beans. It had been cooking all day in the crock pot and was delicious. We are planning a quiet evening at home. DH is recovering from a heart procedure earlier this week.
Have a wonderful time with friends and Happy New Year.

Your gathering with friends sounds like so much fun! We used to get together with several couples and play games...haven't done that in a very long time. Maybe we need to start again. Happy New Year to you and yours...and especially to the Stone Rabbit...he's just too too cute (but don't tell him I said so...he might get the big head!)

Dana,
It sounds as though you all had a wonderful celebration with good things to eat, fellowship and games to play! My Texas SIL taught us how to play Mexican Train when I was visiting in early November and it was a really fun game. I hope and your guests enjoyed it as much as we did! Well, here we are in 2011 - I hope it brings us much happiness, joy and wonders to behold.
Hugs,
Jean

How fun! We've enjoyed games nights in the past. And I love the Stone Rabbit's taste as well. That's what I love to buy when the grandkids will be around. Have a blessed New Year and a delightful, although belated (computer woes) Pink Saturday.

Happy New Year and Happy Pink Saturday. It all must have been fun. I want a party hat, too.

Hi Dana, I just talked to Beverly and she told me about your new banner. It looks fabulous. I sometimes wish I could change mine but really I love my banner and I don't know how to change it anyway. Your banner looks great because it goes all across the page. I love the photos too.
We were gone most of today and just arrived home. We had dinner out with friends and bowled after church. Cheri was having a puppy fit when we came in the door. She has calmed down now. She is really good but I think it scares her for us to leave her for very long. She better get over it huh? We take her with us when we can.
I'm thinking about a blue post for tomorrow. I'll come up with something. Smile.
I hope your New Years party was fun and I hope you had a good nap. Whew, I am glad our life will calm down soon. This coming Sat. our grandson is getting married. We are off to Fl again on Tues. Then, nothing planned for a while. Happy me!!!
Get rested up Dana. I am trying to do the same.
Love, Jeanne

Happy New Year, Dana, you party animal. That sounds like a perfect NYEve. Mexican Train is so much fun and there must be a bunch of different ways to play it. My favorites? Scrabble and euchre. We had company this weekend and while not in your league of partying I was up until 2 or 3 for 3 nights so I'm pooped but got in a nap today. We had gumbo for New Years Day and blackeyed peas, of course, and some tamales from my hometown. Hey - same here! I've so enjoyed being blogging friends since I found you and the Stone Rabbit. I get such a kick out of all your pictures and recaps of your trips with Patty and the girls and of course the grandkid stories and seeing your decorating. It's hard to stay inspired sometimes but you do it and RUN, too!! Well, I'm starting 2011 with the most unnatural black hair you can imagine. Should have resolved not to pick my own hair color and have Jeff do the honors. Guess I'll be at Paul Mitchell's next week to repair the damage! xoxo Nancy

Sounds like you had a great New Year's Eve! I'm all for quick and easy food after all the holiday busyness. I've got a ham bone in my fridge, too, and ham & bean soup sounds like a winner on a cold day like this! Happy New Year! ~Roberta

Hi Dana, on my Pink Saturday post, over at blogger, you asked about a link to Copyblogger? If you click on Top 10 Blogs...it will take you to Copyblogger.
I have just started to visit around using my Typepad blog, too. So confusing, I know, but I have been trying to get this Typepad one going for a couple of years.

Good Morning Dana, we are at our daughter's home in Kissimmee, FLorida for our grandson's wedding. It will be held on Saturday. I mentioned it on Facebook. They were engaged last Valentine's Day. She is a darling girl and we are very happy for them. Thus, no new post. I probably should take a short bloggy break. We will be running the roads.
We have a filter in our fridge too. It needs replaced. Our mountain water is delicious so I haven't done it in 3 years. The cost is high!!! One day.
My coffee is ready and my daughter is anxious to visit so this is short. We arrived late last night.
Do you have a New Years resolution yet?? I'm thinking about it. It will have nothing to do with quilting!!! HA!
Love you, Jeanne
