Recently, THE STONE RABBIT pointed out this article in our Kansas City Star Newspaper. It was all about the "food trucks" that are in our Kansas City area. . . and how some of them were going to gather the following Friday for us to "sample" their tasty products!
I thought this sounded like fun, so my husband, daughter and I headed to the event that Friday evening!
The gathering was held in the parking lot of the Kansas City Star.
One of the first folks I spotted when we entered the parking lot was long-time friend....Candice!! She works for The Star and was helping put some last minute touches on the Food Truck Event!!! Here she is with my husband!
There were six food trucks parked around the lot. We arrived just as it opened and judging by the lines that quickly formed, this was going to be a popular event.
This food "truck", Port-Fonda, was really a great Airstream trailer that had been converted to serve up Rick Bayless-style Mexican food.
THE MAGICAL MEATBALL TOUR is where we dined. This business is about to "open" on the streets of KC soon. . . selling wonderful meatball sandwiches!
COFFEE CAKE KC serves up cup cakes and gourmet coffee!!
Kansas City native, Heather Shouse, was on hand selling the book she wrote: "FOOD TRUCKS: DISPATCHES AND AND RECIPES FROM THE BEST KITCHEN ON WHEELS".
Heather worked at LIDIA'S in Kansas City before she moved to Chicago to pursue a career in food journalism.
That's so funny. There was an article in our local paper last evening about Food Trucks and the ones everyone wishes were here. I guess I'll never know because we don't venture to the big city anymore. We stick to the four places to eat out here in the country...LOL.....just kiddin'. Happy Pink Saturday Dana. ( we actually have 5 places to eat if you count that Mac place. :)

Well I was sitting and waiting to post my link and you beat me to it!!! HA! I was talking to Beverly when I was linking. She slowed me down. It is all her fault. You know I'm having some fun with this. Now you have to send me one of those cupcakes. Smile.
I would love to attend something like the Food Truck event. This would really be fun. Our town just celebrated the annual Taste of Scotland event. We were in FL and couldn't attend. It is usually so much fun and great Scottish food. There is a specialty sold at this event called 'Coulter's Candy.' My maiden name is Coulter. There is a song about it and you can find it on Google. My father's family is Scottish/Irish. I posted a bit about it before.
The 'Food Truck' idea is awesome for someone to test their food for opening a business.
Or just have a good day doing the Food Truck thing. No overhead and lots of customers. Your photos were great and it was fun to meet friends there too. The photo of you eating the cupcake is priceless. I hope you had a napkin. HA!
We are still loading the RV. It has been two days since we caught a mouse. I hope they are all gone. I'm putting in the food today. I am taking photos to share for next Wednesday's post.
The weather in Maine will be in the 60's during the day and the 40/50's at night. The electric blanket is a must. Even Cheri' has a heated bed. Such a spoiled little pup. She sleeps in a crate at night. However, around 6 AM she wants to get in bed with us. We put her in our bed under the covers until another hour or so. We adore her can you tell?
Have a wonderful weekend my dear friend.
Love, Jeanne

Hi Dana the first place holder of the Pink Links. How do you do that??? You must plan ahead - what a concept. I seem to be familiar only with the always behind concept! Those food wagons are getting so popular. I used to get that Leche con Madre candy off the fly infested carts in Reynosa, Mex. ugh. (wish I could do it right now, though!) So how is your foot doing? Are you hobbling after the mother's day run? I have a sprained knee and torn meniscus and got a shot of cortisone yesterday which helped a little. These injured body parts are getting tedious! xoxo Nancy

Well that looked like great fun. We have 1 food truck here in our little town of 100, called Mama Z's pizza. One of our neighbors owns it and makes great pizza, we all get together on Wed and have pizza. He travels to other towns during the week and has developed a large following.
Happy PS

What fun! That cupcake you got looks delicious!
I love finding food trucks. it's quite popular here in LA now. I really like the old style Mexican trucks you find in some of the outer neighborhoods.
Happy Pink Saturday!

Looks like fun! I want that cupcake! :) Happy Pink Saturday!
Posted by: Lorraine | May 21, 2011 at 10:41 AM
Did you buy me one of those cupcakes? Is it coming to my front door via special delivery?
I all looks like fun, Dana. Food trucks are a BIG thing here. In fact, we went looking for one for dinner today, but I wasn't parked where I expected. Instead we went to Papa Mojo's Roadhouse. I ordered Shrimp and Grits - and the shrimp and grits were delicious. But, the sauce cooked my inards. Ha! Too spicy for me.
Happy Pink Saturday, girlie.♥

Hi Dana! Oh, I've changed browsers and now I can see your photos. For some reason for about a year - I've not been able to see your photos. I could see your words but now photos! I've missed seeing your gorgeous face and little Stone's too!
I see you're still having fun!
Take care!!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

The food that we eat identifies who we are, and it is great to share it to other people and see them enjoy the food we eat. All thanks to the food truck culture! The Magical Meatball looks very tasty! :-)
