I LOVE this time of year. Actually, what I love is the gradual increase of daylight hours that takes place from the Winter Solstice to now, the Summer Solstice. I love having daylight until 9 p.m. because I can get outside and putz around in the yard, or sit on the patio and watch the birds fly around or the sun set. I also LOVE being able to get out and run or walk when the sun starts to go down a bit. It's just a wonderful part of the day. . .that time from about 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.. It's not bright daylight and it's not dark. . .it's a magical time.
Yes, I love this time of year. . . but the first day of Summer kinda makes me sad! It's the longest day of daylight hours we will have all year and that means, starting tomorrow, the hours of daylight will slowly start to get shorter and shorter and shorter. . .until December 21 which marks the Winter Solstice and the shortest day of daylight hours. THEN, the days will slowing start seeing a little more daylight each day until BAM. . .we hit the Summer Solstice next June .... and we start all over again!!!
However, while our daylight hours slowly decrease, I will enjoy every bit of this season I can. . .and so will THE STONE RABBIT!! Flowers and lightning bugs and sun tea are so much more fun than shoveling snow.
Have a Happy First Day of Summer, everyone!!

I guess you need some ice and snow in your life to make you appreciate summer. I'm not a fan of summer but you make it sound so inviting it makes me want to appreciate it! When I win the lottery and I "summer" in my creekside mountain cabin in the hills of North Carolina I'm sure I'll have a whole new attitude. Happy Pink Saturday and a merry Summer Solstice to my running friend. xoxo Nancy

Back again to ask if that is tea in the mason jar? Love the summer vignette, beautiful greenery and of course the stone rabbit!
Hugs,
Emily

You share the same feelings that I have about the first day of summer. I love the longer hours of daylight, but the thought that each day will now grow shorter is sad. Thank goodness for happy bunnies!

HAPPY first day of summer, happy perigee Moon! I am enjoying the 'calm before the storm' with temps still mild yet. Summer is my least fav season here in so California and it lasts well into October- yes, we have temps in the 90's almost until Halloween. You send me some cooler shorter days and I will send you some heat- haha! Love your photos :)

I have the same mixed feelings about Summer Solstice, shorter days from now on. So I try to redouble my efforts to fully enjoy the late evening sunsets.

all so true Dana but we have lots of "long" days to go. The temps. here have been just perfect this month and everything is so beautiful...nice and green and colorful. And a happy happy belated anniversary wish to you too. We will celebrate 44 years in August. The days just fly by so fast. HPS friend... xoxo

I love summer, too! What makes winter so bad is the darkness, so I'm with you on that. My house is always cleaner in summer because I'm so much more alive in the warm sun and bright light--a nice side benefit.
