Pink Saturday CELEBRATIONS!!

 

Don't you just love celebrations?  I know I do. . . and I'm lucky that I have friends who feel the same way.  

For example, last Saturday a group of us met at Michelle's house for our annual celebration of the blooming of her mimosa tree!!   Because she'd had the tree trimmed earlier, it didn't produce an abundance of blooms this year, but it made the perfect backdrop for our group photo AND, most importantly, is provided a great excuse to get together.

 

 

You can see waaaaaaay up on the top of her tree were some pretty blooms.   It was also a gorgeous morning. . .just look at that sky!!!

 

 

 

We always have a little brunch that we enjoy in lawn chairs  so we can view her tree!!

Wednesday was National Hot-dog Day.....did you know that?  Well, Jana (in PINK), the leader of our Wednesday night running group knew that and she arranged for a vendor to be there and to serve us Chicago style hot-dogs after we finished our runs!!  What a great way to celebrate completing a 3.5 mile run on a very hot July evening!  Karen (middle) and I love hot-dogs and they were delicious!

 

 

This morning three of us from our little running group ran/walked our longest distance of the season so far. . . .EIGHT MILES!!  Now that's definitely a reason to celebrate!!!  This is part of our training to build up to a half marathon distance (13.1 miles) which we will run in mid October!!

One day last week I saw that someone was celebrating a birthday!  I didn't know that person, but I do know someone that's very special to all of us who will be celebrating HER birthday tomorrow (the 26th) and that is. . . .

 

 

our very own BEVERLY!!!

In fact, Beverly, THE STONE RABBIT is already toasting your special day with a little mimosa!   We both hope you have a fantastic birthday. . .and that you are able to blow out all of those candles in one breath!!  :)

And the Summer Keeps Rolling Along. . .

 

We have had multiple robin families raising little babies on the nests we left on three of our downspouts (from last summer).  After the other two nests were recently vacated by the wee birds, I took them down as they were in high traffic areas. . .and, well, we were constantly being chastised by the mamas and the papas every time we came near their babies.

HOWEVER. . .this last nest, located in a spot we don't need to be around very often, will stay. . .even after these sweet ones fly away!

I thought there were three birdies in this nest, but it wasn't until last evening that I could clearly see all three of them!!

 

This is how I found them this morning. . .two little heads and one little bum!  :)  

 

I shared with you, in a May PINK SATURDAY  post, how I'd filled six of our patio pots with red vincas (aka periwinkles).  They are supposed to be red. . . .

 

but, as they grow, they take on a PINKISH red. . .and that's OK with us cuz they tolerate the Western exposure and that makes us all happy. . .especially THE STONE RABBIT as he's in charge of taking care of them!  He says they are very "grower friendly"!

It's BINGHAM WAGGONER TIME AGAIN!!

 

This time of year brings some great sales in our midwestern area!!

 

Last night Bonnie and I headed over to our friend Dale's sale called THE FLEETING FLEA!!  He has found a great location for his "pop up" vintage flea market and is now able to host several of these shows a year in an indoor location!!

Bonnie and I love to look at all of the gatherings and, with luck, we find a few treasures to bring home!

Tomorrow is one of my favorite days of the entire year. . .THE BINGHAM WAGGONER SALE!!!  It's located on the grounds of a victorian mansion in Independence, MO!! 

We always start the morning off with coffee and biscuits and gravy cause we've got to have strength to walk and walk and shop and shop!

 

 

 

Besides looking for treasures, my favorite part of this day is running into other friends who are also "treasure hunting" or are vendors!

Pictured below is Kathy. . .an awesome folk-artist and cat lover!  I own many of her handmade items!!  We became friends over the years through the various craft shows we have been in together.

 

 

 

Here's another special friend. . .Sharon (on left).  We went to high school together!!  I rarely see high school friends so this is always a treat to see her and the many "goodies" she and her sister bring to sell in their booth!!

 

 

THE STONE RABBIT is shown with some of the great items I found at the sale one year!!  

Do you see those paper mache' planters in the foreground?  Bonnie and I turned those into glittery jack-0-lanterns and sold them in our Fall craft shows!!

 

 

I can't believe another PINK SATURDAY has rolled around again. . .but it has!!
