It was a whirlwind December from start to finish!! However, it was a good month of busyness..nothing too earthshaking going on other than normal efforts to prepare for and enjoy the holidays. OK, I take that back. Our son and DIL and grands were in Texas for Christmas and (thankfully) got back home right ahead of the dreadful weather (tornados, snow, ice) that hit the midwest and on the 30th our youngest grand had his tonsils removed. All went well and he's now feeling much better after a couple of days of not being his old chipper self.
For the last few years we've been fortunate enough to be able to close out the old year with two other couples. We enjoy a yummy dinner prepared by the hostess (and it's not me :) and an assortment of Christmas leftovers (side dishes or appetizers or desserts). The other two ladies and I always, ALWAYS get in our final toast of the old year!
This is the second year I've met up with others for a New Year's Day run!!!
It was really cold when we did that yesterday. Because we've had snowy and icy streets and sidewalks, we had to find a spot that was clear.....and what better place that the sidewalk that goes around our local hospital? :)
I scoped out our normal spots on New Year's Eve and they were not safe, so I went in search of a new location....and this is what I came up with. Actually, it's a great one mile loop around the hospital and its parking areas. There's also an asphault walking trail that follows along near to the sidewalk, but it had many more icy spots on it than did the side walk. We got in 3 and 1/2 miles and were very happy to be able to do that! Because it was so cold, we didn't encounter anyone else on the trail or sidewalk. . .just us four crazy ladies having a great time keeping warm and enjoying eachother's company as we started our new running year!
THE STONE RABBIT and I also made a big pot of black-eyed peas and ham. We weren't taking any chances with that "luck" thing!
I hope you had a great New Year's Eve/Day!!! I suppose I'd better get busy and come up with a few new goals for the new year....I like to say GOALS and not RESOLUTIONS. I feel less trapped that way. :)
Have a great Pink Saturday and wonderful NEW YEAR!!
Special thanks to Beverly of HOW SWEET THE SOUND for hosting our weekly linking event!!

Happy New Year, Dana! It was good thinking to run around the hospital outdoor walkways as they were probably well groomed of ice and snow. It was a fun way to begin 2016!.

Hello Dana, Our Christmas and New Years was full of so many gatherings etc. I took a break. I'm back. I noticed you did not do a post this Saturday and I hope all is well with you and yours. Thank you for visiting me last week I was unable to take much time to visit anyone. I am hoping to post and visit more in 2016.
I am trying to imagine you running in cold icy weather. That is definitely devotion at it's best. I'm glad you were all in one piece and able to cook those black eyed peas. YUM! My sister made a dip called Texas Caviar with black eyed peas etc and we had it New Years eve. delicious! I hope that counted for good luck. HA! I ate some after midnight just to be sure.
Have a wonderful week my dear friend. It looks like we will be visiting Kansas in the early summer. We will also go to Houston to see our great grandbaby that will be here in just a couple of weeks. Jan 31st to be exact. We do not know what it will be until it is born. Our grandson and his wife's choice. Can't wait.
Sending you and yours happy and healthy New Years wishes. I am glad your grandson is recovering from his tonsillectomy. Poor thing.
Love,
Jeanne
