The world lost a great lady this week. . . . Sally of Smiling Sally.
I "met" her through our blogs several years ago. She hosted a weekly event called "Blue Monday" where bloggers could link up and share their "blue" finds. Being the lazy blogger I've become, I wasn't an active participant in her event, but I still checked it out and enjoyed the posts of the many faithful bloggers who linked up to her party of blue. Later, we became Facebook friends. That's how I learned of her passing this week.....through a post.
I knew she had battled health issues, but I wasn't prepared to read that she'd just died.
It's really odd how we can feel we "know" someone even if we haven't met them in person. This crazy internet age and the connections we make through blogging, Facebook, etc. brings so many of us together who would never have otherwise known each other.
Well, I feel like I did kinda "know" Sally......and because of that, I'm very sad that she's now gone.
What I read over and over on her Facebook page was what a kind, funny and spiritual person she was and while it's hard for us to be left behind, she is where she was ready to go.
Because of her, I will never look at blue in the same way again.
Goodbye Sally. . . I know your smile is brighter than ever now.

What a nice tribute. I am sure she is smiling down on you for your unending thoughtfulness. I especially like the "blue" tear on your "Stone Rabbit" - what a nice touch.

You said it very well. I doing my final tribute on Monday. I may have to give up blogging as I tend to get attached to certain ones and then lose them. I still think about the one that called herself CC.

Beautifully said Dana! I miss Sally too. She was the absolute kindest lady here and always checked in with each one of us that participated with her each week. Debbie Dabble is going to post blue for Monday and asked us to join her. I am going to be sad without Sally. Do you know when she was hospitalized she had her grand daughter link up for us? Never complaining about her pain and always sharing her faith if you wanted to talk with her. I think her love story with Johnny was so romantic. They married when she was 17 but she went on to college and was an awesome school teacher. The comments some left at her FB page made me cry happy tears, knowing her was a true honor. I have a feeling she and God are painting the heavens blue this week. Thank you for sharing and enjoy your weekend. Hugs, Anne

Yes, Dana, what a nice tribute. Sad to hear about her passing, but happy to know she is with the Lord. I would love to link up on Monday in honor of her on Debbie's blog... and the tear on the Stone Rabbit says it all.

Happy Pink Saturday, Dana. This was a perfect tribute to Sally. She was a very special lady. I think so many of us have strong feelings of friendships with those we have met online.♥
This post is being featured on my Pink Saturday post this week as "the one with the most clicks". By the way, Jeanne at Backyard Neighbor is going to be hosting Blue Mondays beginning Monday, March 14. You should link this lovely tribute there, too.
