It's a gorgeous day here in the midwest. . .the same type of sky-blue morning as it was 15 years ago at this very time. . .just as terrorists highjacked four airliners and then, like the cowards they were, flew them towards their targets. In minutes, over 3,000 innocent people lost their lives . Hundreds of brave first responders also died as they attempted to save people who were in the buildings that had been hit by the planes. Families of all the fallen were forever changed. Our country was, too.
My heart is heavy today . . .I can't believe 15 years have gone by since that morning as I sat glued to the TV, watching in total disbelief what was unfolding on the East coast.
May we hold these people in our hearts each and every day. . . as well as the military personnel who have been lost or gravely injured since then as they fought to protect our freedoms. May we also continue to thank our current military personnel and first responders for all they do for us each and every day.
